:) AppleScript tip: How to place the full path to the current directory on the clipboardĪ couple of years ago I wrote a simple AppleScript program to determine the full path to the directory currently being displayed in the Finder. all you have to do is remember this magic key/mouse combination. Left-click the Finder menu bar, which it displays the name of the current folder. To display it always, select your Home folder (cmd-shift-h. To temporarily reveal it, in Finder, hold down the Option key (alt) and select Library from the Go menu. The user Library has been hidden since Mountain Lion. It is at /Users/ or cmd-shift-h in Finder. But you can show it using this hidden key/mouse combination: A: Your User folder isnt hidden (or shouldnt be). Begin editing your hosts file to add the new IP. Access your /etc/hosts folder using a text editor such as Nano. As we discussed in this post, you can find and edit your Mac hosts file by following these four simple steps: Open the Terminal application on your Mac computer. Hold down the Option key, and you’ll see Copy change to Copy name as Pathname. Open Finder and right-click the file or folder to display the context menu. Another easy way to obtain a file path on Mac is with the context menu in Finder.

The Finder is a clever interface - especially now that it sports four different views - but at times like this, it just leaves you hanging. When youve got it ready to go, type diff in at the prompt followed by a space, and. what is the path to the directory you're looking at? So, you're sitting there, looking at your Mac Finder window, and you see the file you need to work with, but wait.
